Carrying Out Security And Farming, Habema Soldier Wecomed Anthusiastically By The Amugi Farmer

PUNCAK - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command (KOOPS TNI) HABEMA, namely the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 323/Buaya Putih Kostrad, is currently carrying out the mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Puncak Regency area, Papua Tengah Province. On Sunday, 23 June 2024, the 323 Task Forces carried out routine security patrol in the Ilaga Utara District area, specifically in the Amugi Village. During the patrol, the Soldiers had an opportunity to carry out territorial program in the form of farming with some of the Amugi farmers.

The implementation of security and farming program, in particular, was carried out by the Soldiers from the Mayuberi Post and led directly by the Post Commander in the name of First Lieutenant Yudho. When the 323 Patrol Team began to enter the outer limits of the Amugi Village, the Soldiers saw several Amugi residents who worked as farmers carrying out their farming activities. While maintaining security, 1LT Yudho approached them and a Social Communication interaction occurred between the two. The Amugi farmers enthusiastically welcomed the presence of the Soldiers on their agricultural land.

Through this conversation, it was discovered that the Amugi farmers were trying to open up agricultural land for vegetables. However, these farmers had a limited number of vegetable seeds compare to fairly large area of land they will use for cultivation. Luckily, Soldiers from the 323 Task Forces were carrying several vegetable seeds in their backpack. Swiftly, 1LT Yudho handed over the seeds to the Amugi farmers and, concurrently, invited several soldiers to help hoe the land that would be used as farming land. Even though the time for assistance to the farmers was relatively short, the Amugi farmers were very enthusiastic about welcoming the assistance of the Soldiers who also had the opportunity to provide motivation to the Amugi farmers to continue their enthusiasm for farming.

"The initiative of the Soldiers from the 323 Task Forces to help farmers in the Amugi Village, Ilaga Utara District, is a role of the TNI in supporting efforts to accelerate development in the Papua region, " said the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, upon receiving the program report.
